Sustainability starts at the design stage, not the factory gate
Most semiconductor sustainability stories start at the fab — renewable energy, water recycling, waste diversion. Those matter, and we're building toward them at our Uttar Pradesh facility. But a large share of a chip's environmental cost is locked in long before it reaches a fab floor, in the number of physical iterations it takes to get a design right. That's the part of the story most platforms don't tell, and it's the part we can already stand behind today.
01
Fewer physical iterations
Every prototype run of a chip consumes real silicon, water, and energy in the fab — whether or not the design works. Virtual Silicon catches architecture mistakes in simulation instead, so a design reaches physical silicon in a fraction of the iterations a trial-and-error process would take.
02
Right-sized silicon, not over-provisioned silicon
A general-purpose chip running a specialized workload wastes power and area on capability it never uses. Workload Intelligence and Custom AI Accelerators — including our own low-power chip, Clean Future CF-1 — size the silicon to the actual job, which means less material and less power drawn over the product's lifetime — not just at manufacturing time.
03
Responsible manufacturing, designed in from day one
Our Uttar Pradesh facility is still being built, so we won't cite completed-year statistics we don't have yet. What we can commit to: energy-efficient equipment selection, water-conscious process design, and waste management planned into the facility from its first drawing, not retrofitted later.
